The College was founded by Arya Samaj, Jalandhar Cantt. in 1964. Affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University(G.N.D.U.), Amritsar, the College is among the first 10 colleges of the G.N.D.U. It is a multi-faculty college imparting education in Humanities, Fine Arts, Science and Commerce. It runs vocational courses in Dress Designing, Textile Designing, Computers and Cosmetology.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES : Banarsi Dass Arya Girls College has for it’s object the formulation of character. Besides imparting formal training, the institution endeavors to promote a concept of education which is more comprehensive, positive and dynamic and is meant for the betterment of the human race and society. The attempt is to build a noble character by including qualities like honesty ,integrity and discipline .
THE COLLEGE BUILDING : The college building is sprawled over a spacious area of 4 acres. Spread into different wings and blocks .The central building comprises a well-stocked library , Home Science department with well-equipped laboratories and Department of Computers. Science block with laboratories is on the first floor of the building. In the administrative block is Principal’s office , two offices, staff room, and attached to it are well- lighted and ventilated class rooms. The college garden with it's lush green lawns, flowers, ornamental plants and trees is a treat for the eyes at the very entrance. There is an aura of peace, & serenity, almost a Shanti Niketan atmosphere.
A modern and impressive open-air stage , a well-furnished common room, an inviting college canteen, a well-stocked book shop and an aloof, distant and yet with the campus, Principal’s residence are all objects of pride for the college.
The college has a big play ground, a Lawn Tennis court, a Judo Hall and many other facilities for sports. COLLEGE HOSTEL facility is also available.

6. The college is also affiliated to the Punjab School Education Board & provides instructions in Senior Secondary Certificate Examination Part -I & Part-II in the following groups - Humanities , Science (Medical/ Non-Medical), Fine Arts & Commerce
7. Private Diploma in Computer Applications for 3 months, 6 months & 1 year duration.
