The Broadcast Engineering Society (India) was established in 1987 as a professional body with the prime objective to promote the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and practice of Radio & Television broadcasting. The Society aspires and endeavours to fulfill this role through on-going programs designed to inform and enlighten the broadcast fraternity in the diverse areas of electronic media.
As new and more sophisticated technologies emerge, there is a need for Indian broadcasters, both public and private, to study and evaluate these technologies. Also they must acquire the know-how of the state-of-the-art broadcast equipment available in national and international markets. BES, in pursuing this objective, organises international seminars and exhibitors at regular intervals. The Society has over 1200 broadcast professionals and many industries as its members. The Society is affiliated to Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE), Indianapolis, USA.
The Bangalore Chapter of BES(I) has been regularly conducting Seminars,Exhibitions and Lectures on the current topics of interest in the Broadcast, Cable, Internet and Allied Industries. With leading companies and service providers actively involved in the activities, the Chapter has provided valuable support to bridge the gap between Industry and the market.
Broadcast, Cable & Internet BCMA'99 a two day seminar cum exhibition is being organised on the
24th and 25th September 1999 by the Bangalore Chapter of Broadcast Engineering Society
(India). The focus of this event willbe on the Satellite & Terrestrial Broadcasting of
digital TV & Sound and the advances in the Cable TV networks. Topics on Voice &
Video on the Internet will be an added feature. The event will provide and ideal forum for
exchange of views and ideas between the manufacturers, users and professionals in the
broadcast, cable & multimedia industries. Latest trends and research topics will throw
light on the thrust areas for the future including the impact of Internet.
