| The Bharatiya Vidya
Bhavan was founded in Mumbai in 1938 by Dr. K. M. Munshi, a multifaceted
personality. Bhavan is a comprehensive national organisation with an international
outlook touching almost all segments of life. It is primarily and essentially
an educational & culturial organisation which has grown from small
begnings into an all-India intellectual, cultural & education movement.
It has started more than 50 Centres in India and a few International Centres too with avowed object of building up a commonwealth of faith, hope & human values. Hence Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru once referred to it as " a very fine Institution which deserves every encouragement & support."

| The
Pune Kendra was established on October 2, 1983, the Ghandi Jayanti Day
and was inaugurated by Swami Rangnathanadji Maharaj of Ramakrishna Math.
The Pune Kendra is esatblished for contributing to various educational
and cultural activities. It has its own land purchased from the Government
of Maharashtra,3/4 acres, with the same area being a play field given by
Govt. of Maharashtra on lease rent. A spacious building has been constructed.
The kendra has a separate Sardar Mahadev Balwant Natu Sabhagrah mainly
for the use of school children.
