CIRCOT Calibration Cotton

All textile testing laboratories in India including those of textile mills and R&D establishments are using imported USDA calibration cotton standards for calibrating fibre testing instruments such as Fibrograph, Micronaire, Stelometer and HVI system. The import of calibration cotton is time consuming, expensive and involves valuable foreign exchange.

CIRCOT is offering indigenously prepared calibration cotton standards having quality characteristics similar to those of USDA calibration cottons.

Two sets of calibration cotton standards are available: -

Þ     One set is for Conventional Instruments.

Þ      The other set is for HVI System.

The net weight of each sample is 200 grams. The cost of one individual sample is Rs 600/-. A rebate of Rs 100/- per sample is offered for the purchase of four or more samples at a time. A further discount of 10% will be given for orders placed for Rs. 10,000/= or above at a time. However the cost of one individual Mic only sample is Rs 300/- only. The amount should be paid in cash or cheque (Mumbai) / demand draft drawn in favour of Director, Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology.

The samples are supplied in handy cylindrical containers packed in labeled cartons for easy transport. Local parties may collect the set(s) across the counter at CIRCOT. For outstation parties the samples will be despatched by Registered Parcel Post.

A summary of the fibre characteristics of the sample sets meant for Conventional Instruments and HVI System are appended. The values of the standards for the HVI set are given in both International Calibration Cotton  (ICC) mode (Table 2A) and HVI mode (Table 2B) to help the Indian Mills to overcome the difficulty caused by the stoppage of ICC Cotton supply by USDA.
