SUNDAY, 11TH MAY 2008 /21ST VAISAKHA 1930 (SAKA)
Heat wave conditions prevailed over parts of South Coastal Andhrapradesh.
Rainfall occurred at a few places over Tamilnadu. Isolated rainfall occurred over Kerala, Rayalaseema and Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Coastal Andhrapradesh, Telangana and Lakshadweep.
Rasipuram (Namakkal dt) and Ketti (Nilgiris dt) recorded heavy rainfall of 9 and 7 centimetres respectively.
The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are:
Pennagaram (Dharmapuri dt) and Kothagiri (Nilgiris dt) 5 each, Palacode (Dharmapuri dt), Thiruchengode (Namakkal dt), Sathyamangalam (Erode dt), Tiruchirapalli, Ponampet (Kodagu dt), Lalgudi (Tiruchirapalli dt) and M.M.Hills (Chamrajnagar dt) 4 each, Kanchipuram, Omalur (Salem dt), Gobichettipalayam (Erode dt) and Virajpet (Kodagu dt) 3 each, Pappireddipatti (Dharmapuri dt), Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Sendamangalam (Namakkal dt), Salem, Mettupalayam (Coimbatore dt), Bhavanisagar (Erode dt), Coonoor and Gudalur Bazaar (Nilgiris dt) 2 each and Vellore, Attur, Valapady and Sankaridurg (all Salem dt), Yercaud, Erode, Chettikulam (Perambalur dt), Marungapuri (Tiruchirapalli dt), Poondi (Tiruvallur dt) and Subramanya (Dakshina Kannada dt) 1 each.
On Saturday, the maximum temperature rose at one or two places over North Coastal Andhrapradesh, Coastal and South interior Karnataka and changed little elsewhere over the region.
They were markedly above normal at one or two places over South Coastal Andhrapradesh, appreciably above normal at a few places over North Coastal Tamilnadu, at one or two places over rest South Coastal Andhrapradesh Coastal Karnataka, above normal at one or two places over rest Coastal Andhrapradesh, South interior Karnataka, rest Tamilnadu, below normal at one or two places over rest Tamilnadu and were generally normal over the rest of the region.
Ongole, Vijayawada Airport, Khammam and Nellore recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius in the region.
WEATHER FORECAST VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 13th May 2008:
Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhrapradesh and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Telangana and North interior Karnataka.
HEAT WAVE WARNING :
Heat wave Conditions are likely to prevail over parts of South Coastal Andhrapradesh during next two days.
FORECAST FOR CHENNAI CITY AND NEIGHBOURHOOD VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 13th May 2008:
Partly cloudy. Possibility of shower or thundershower in some areas evening or night. Maximum temperature will be around 41 degree Celsius.
FARMERS WEATHER BULLETIN FOR TAMILNADU AND PUDUCHERRY FORECAST VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 13th May 2008:
Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over all the district of Tamilnadu and Puducherry.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAY: No Significant change.
