INDIAN
METEOROLOGICAL SOCIETY
The
Indian Meteorological Society was established at the 1956 Calcutta session of
Indian Science Congress.
Objectives
- Advancement of Meteorological and
allied sciences
- Dissemination of the knowledge of such
sciences
- Promotion of application of
Meteorology and allied sciences to various constructive human
activities
Activities
- To encourage and expand research
activity
- To organize meetings, discussions,
symposia, conferences etc.,
- To bring out suitable publications
- To promote cooperation in scientific
work
The Society has its HQ at Delhi with several branches called chapters
functioning at various places. As of now there are 15 Chapters spread all over India.
The society also
brings
out its Bulletin 'Vayu Mandal' published twice a year.
The IMS has been holding TROPMET symposia every year since
1992 , which have served as the leading fora to exchange and assimilate
the developments taking place in Atmospheric and Allied Sciences. The list
