A Non Government Organisation working with underpriviledged women and children in West Bengal
Women's Interlink Foundation (WIF)is a Non Government Organisation which was formed in 1990 by Mrs. Aloka Mitra along with a team of dedicated social workers having many decades of experience working with the poorest of poor women and children.
WIF focuses on empowering the most deprived section of our community through the provision of an Integrated package of services which include : * Non Formal Education; * Health care; *Supplementary Nutrition; * Recreation; * HIV/AIDS Awareness; * Condom Distribution; *Birth Control Pills Distribution; * Mobile Pulse Polio Campaigns; * Water and Sanitation Programs; * Vocational Skills Training Programs such as Stained Glass, Kantha, embroidery, machine knitting training etc.
WIF is working with Commercial Sex Workers and their children; Street and Working Children; Ragpicking Children and Orphaned, destitute children and children who have been trafficked.
WIF reaches out to approximately 2000 children in Calcutta, Maheshtala, Jalpaiguri.
WIF has Water and Sanitation Projects in Maheshtala, Bolpur and Raghunathpur to address the problems of scarcity of water and sanitation related diseases such as diarrhoea which is a killer disease.
Polio immunisation is another priority area of WIF.
How does WIF work?
WIF is an NGI which networks with the Government, other NGOs, Foreign donors and individuals. It tries to weave together the resources available in the communities it works in and add those components which are missing to give the women and children their basic support services.
Who constitute WIF?
WIF has a team of professionals from all wakes of life who provide their expertise to make the development programs effective. The field workers are trained social workers who are dedicated, motivated young men and women who have a comman dream to make this world a better place for the children and their mothers.Other Places to go:
