C.S.Sridhara
is the
chief architect of the Learning Centre. He has more than 25 years of experience
in teaching, research and development, project management, business development
and business management.
After
obtaining his B.E degree from the University of Mysore (1969) and M.Tech from
IIT-Madras (1971), he worked as a member of the faculty at IIT-Madras and
worked under Prof. Joachim Holz ( now a professor at University of Wuppertal)
on development of high power inverter for high-speed railway traction.
He moved
to the R & D department of the Tata Electric Cos., Mumbai in 1974 and was
responsible for the development of a number of electronic products and systems
for a variety of industries like steel, cement, paper etc. Some of the key
products developed include India's largest thyristor controlled drive for steel
rolling mills, micro-computer
(COMPUTROL -80) for industrial control.
At
NELCO Ltd.( a subsidiary of TEC)
as the Divisional manager of drives and automation, he was responsible
for setting up the engineering and product development groups as well as for
establishing the engineering standards. He also played a key role in
engineering and marketing of automation systems for critical industrial
applications.
In
1989, Mr Sridhara was responsible for the setting up of the automation division
at Bangalore to handle software
engineering and system integration for large steel mill projects using the
Westinghouse WDPF system. This division was responsible for the successful
execution of large automation projects including the Hot Strip Mill for TATA
steel, Steckel mill for LLOYD steel and HSM for JVSL.
Adaptation
to fast changing technolgies and its application to industrial systems has
always been the focus at NELCO and this has made 'training' and 'learning
orientation' an essential part of the organizational culture. This is an area
where Mr. Sridhara has played a key role in organizational development.
As
an engineer with more than 25 years of experience in teaching, R&D,
engineering, marketing, HRD, strategic planning and business management, Mr
Sridhara is now embarking on a mission to contribute to human resource
development through the LearningCentre. HRD.
