The M.W.A Matriculation & Higher Secondary School is run by the Muslim Women’s Association , Chennai. It is recognised by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu. It was started in 1961, as a small Nursery School with 40 children on its rolls by a small band of Muslim women dedicated to the cause of educating the poor sector of all communities under the Presidentship of late Begum Nazir Hussain. Since then it has grown in strength and maintains a high standard of education. The School now has more than 1200 pupils on its rolls.
The motto of the School is “LEARN & SERVE “.
The School provides education for girls and boys from L.K.G to Std. V and for girls only upto Std. XII. The medium of instruction in the school is English. The School has a well equipped library and prayer Hall and the Higher Secondary Block has separate laboratories for computer science, physics , chemistry, biology and home science with modern equipments. Vocational Courses are also conducted in typewrting and tailoring.
Every year our School secures a very high percentage of passes in the Public Examinations of Std. X and XII. Our school has bagged state ranks in Arabic and Persian and centum in Maths,Commerce & Computer Science.
To encourage the school children of the weaker section to continue their studies, several scholarships and sponsorships from the Association are made available to them on merit cum means basis.Other Places to go:
