TRAGEDY OF HUMAN INTELLIGENCE

A NEW DISCOVERY IN PSYCHOLOGY

Every generation of human beings is needlessly suffering
psychologically due to an avoidable error in upbringing unknowingly and involuntarily committed by the previous generation. If you are serious and concerned about the problems of mankind, here is an important letter to you. Please click below on the "Letter to the serious and concerned.." to go there.

(Given below are the author's answers to some of the readers'  questions , received on the internet.)

gist (Q1-34)

Q 1: What is the new discovery?

This new discovery reveals that ‘All sufferings of mankind from numerous problems are only due to the Present or the Fragmented State of Intelligence, which is an aberration of the Natural State of Intelligence'.

In other words, the present situation in the world is inevitable in the prevalent psychological state of mankind.

Q 2: What are the characteristics and cause of the Present or the Fragmented State of Intelligence in Mankind?

One of the characteristics of the present state of intelligence is to perceive suffering, restlessness or discomfort, which is due to its fragmented state. This state is due to a simple and avoidable error of parents or elders, committed during the early upbringing of children. It is likened to a manufacturing defect, since it is taking place during the formative stage of intelligence, which are the early growing years of the brain. It isn't a physical or a pathological disorder of the brain, but only due to the functional error of intelligence caused due to irregularity, inconsistency and instability in the energy flow in the senses centers of the human brain.

Q 3: Can intelligence in adults return to its Natural State? If not why not?

Due to its inherent characteristic, the psyche in adults generally resists the return of intelligence to its Natural State. Since pleasure can balance the state of misery, the operating intelligence prefers to indulge or focus on those activities that give pleasure. To return to its natural state, the psyche has to end its state of sorrow by total observation, which eliminates the state of fragmentation. Since sorrow is  now being neutralised or balanced by pleasure, misery remains  in each person till death, though in various proportions.

Since knowledge is the result of perception of fragmented state of intelligence, it can't be rational, full and final. Hence, even the best available knowledge may be unable to help adults to return to Natural or normal state. This discovery however enables mankind to ensure permanent and total freedom from all problems and sufferings to future generations only.

Q 4: What is a ‘problem’ and how it can be defined? List the problems of mankind.

Generally, a situation is termed or perceived as a problem, when it can't be faced or easily overcome or appears to cause anxiety or suffering, thereby depriving humans of a normal or smooth movement of life. Situation itself isn't the problem, but it appears as the problem or the cause of suffering to the perceiver, due to distortion in perception caused by the state of fragmentation of intelligence. This is evident from the fact that often a single situation is perceived as a problem by some, but not by everyone and at all times. Generally people try to solve problems by treating or changing the situation or its 'cause'. If there is accurate perception then there is accurate response, which actually ends the situation. Whether affecting individually or collectively or temporarily or permanently, most sufferings are only due to distorted perceptions. In the normal or natural state of intelligence, such situations don't arise at all or get solved even before they are perceived as problems.

There are innumerable problems faced by mankind, some of them being Anxiety and depressions to AIDS, beggary, corruption, crimes, poverty, environmental degradation, violence, wars and Xenophobia etc., and the list is virtually endless.

Q 5: What are the causes of these problems of mankind, and who can be blamed for it?

Problems are situations perceived or caused by responses of the Fragmented State of Intelligence or both. It is the Fragmented State of Intelligence, which is the root cause of all problems of mankind. It is in that state, many situations are perceived as problems and the consequent responses create newer and often more complicated problems resulting in a chain of such problems. Most of mankind have the fragmented state intelligence, as they are the innocent victims of an error in upbringing caused by parents or elders. The fragmentation of intelligence is in varying proportions, in various regions of the world, depending mainly upon the average of intelligence of parents and elders surrounding the baby in its early years. Besides, we can’t even blame our elders or previous generations, as these errors have continued involuntarily and unknowingly, from time immemorial till present days.

Q 6: Can we solve or eradicate all problems of mankind and if so, how ?

Permanent solution for human problems has to be found step by step as follows. 1) Firstly, mankind has to scientifically find out and explain, what is the standard or normal psychological state or the Natural State of Intelligence, 2) secondly, mankind has to find scientific methods to prevent loss of or at least ensure that the fragmentation of intelligence doesn't exceed half or 50% in the coming generations and lastly, 3) mankind has to find scientific methods to help adults to return to normal or Natural State of Intelligence. So far, this author most humbly claims to be substantially successful in items 1 & 2 only, although he is still independently engaged in further researches about item 3.

Q 7: Can the problems of mankind be classified for easier understanding?

For easier understanding, human problems can be classified into three types, according to their apparent sources. They are, those appearing to arise from, 1) harmful or unnatural behaviour of other individuals or a group, 2) One's own causeless psychological sufferings like hypochondria and 3) Natural calamities and diseases. People generally hold others responsible for the 1st type and they can't easily hold others responsible for 2nd and 3rd types.

Q 8: What is the most widespread problem of mankind and how it can be solved?

Most widespread problem of mankind is that which is appearing to arise from harmful and unnatural behaviour of others. 'I' or Intelligence in every human being is always perceiving and responding (behaving) to new situations. Responses are always instant, matching and directly proportional to the perception of the situation. When the intelligence is functioning normally or naturally, the intelligence would perceive situations naturally and accurately and also respond matchingly, thereby ending, overcoming, completing or solving each situation. Thus problem doesn't arise at all. However, if the perception is distorted, it inevitably leads to mis-responses or harmful or unnatural behaviour leading to conflicts. This prompts retaliation causing newer problems and thus aggravating or deteriorating the situation further. In other words, in every generation, most of the people are needlessly and constantly engaged in causing and/or  solving or numerous avoidable problems to themselves or others, that too unnaturally.

Q 9: What is a conflict and how does it arise?

Conflict is the differing responses of individuals or groups to the same situation. Distortion in functioning of intelligence due to fragmentation is the only cause of all conflicts, since responses are natural, matching and instantaneous to perception.

Q 10:  Will conflicts be absent, if there is no fragmentation of intelligence? If yes, how?

Yes. It is an undeniable fact that there is only one prototype of human brain and its principle of operation as well as its product which is Intelligence is the same in all human beings. Logically and scientifically speaking in all normally born children and in the natural state of intelligence, the primary functioning of intelligence or the perception and responses have to be same. When the responses are natural they have to be the same, accurate, smooth and harmonious. Hence, they can't be conflicting at all.

Q 11:  What would have happened, if the distortion in intelligence were equal in all?

Hypothetically, If distortion were equal in all, perhaps there could have been a strange balance of conflicts. It is also pertinent to note that between two sets of people with same proportion of distortion in intelligence, conflicts would have been inevitable but only the effect of each conflict could have been different, due to difference in tools (or knowledge or experience) used in conflicts.

Q 12: Explain ‘fragmentation of intelligence’ and its indications? Who found it first?

Fragmentation is the divided state of intelligence, which in its normal or natural state is whole or undivided and is capable of entirely operating in senses. Operating intelligence is that, which acts through senses or interacts with the world. Fragmented or divided part is the breakaway part of intelligence, which continues to be active, but not through senses. Fragmented part is distorting the performance of the operating intelligence, resulting in illusions of insecurity and other emotions.

Fragmentation of intelligence results in the loss of single, accurate, clear and undistorted perception and responses in all situations. Indications of fragmentation may be perceived variously as anxiety, duality or plurality of mind to extreme forms of behaviour like violence. Operating intelligence perceives and responds to all situations, but it is constantly, qualitatively and quantitatively affected or distorted by the state of fragmentation. Just as a cracked mirror gives a distorted image, with its inseparable and fragmented part, the psyche too perceives distorted images of all situations. The famous thinker and philosopher, Jiddu Krishnamurti,  (1895-1986), was the first to use the term 'fragmentation of intelligence'.

Q 13: How is fragmentation of intelligence is apparent in human behaviour?

Just as milk adulterated with water, the psyche is functioning as a mixture of natural intelligence with the its fragmentation, resulting in constant state of distorted perception. Generally, psyche is unable to remove or even identify its own state of fragmentation. One’s behaviour is generally determined by the proportion of the operating intelligence and the fragmented part of intelligence, depending on which is more or dominating. Generally, people with more fragmentation (emotion dominant) are irrational, unstable, unreasonable and often emotional, visibly or invisibly, indicating the domination of illusions of insecurity in them. However among them, the least emotion dominant persons, with very low emotions and high intellectual ability become leaders of other emotion dominant people. People, who have no or least fragmentation, aren't motivated by insecurity to become leaders, and have a single mind and also don't do anything that may cause harm to others directly or indirectly.

Q 14: How 'fragmentation of intelligence' is taking place in mankind? What are its effects?

In the natural state, human intelligence has the only ability of perceiving to situations through five senses and responding to it optionally with or without making use of memory. Of its full growth, human brain grows 50% by six months and 75% by 2 1/2 years of age. In the initial growing years of the brain, the intelligence is still nascent, growing and is also highly sensitive. During that period, any excessive or unperceivable event like a physical hurt or a loud sound experienced by the baby, can result in the brain receiving excessive and unbearable amount of electrical impulses. This unperceivable quantity of electrical impulses results in a 'jam' and causes fragmentation of intelligence for a while. If the child isn't pampered at that time, the intelligence invariably returns to its normal or stable state after a little while. However, if the child is pampered at that time, the process of returning to normalcy is halted in order to perceive the new event of pampering and thus permanently retaining the state of fragmentation. It is like a 'hang', which used to take place in earlier computers, when two are more commands were given to it.

Q 15:  How do you define misery or sorrow and fear in mankind? Don't you sympathize the sorrowful for their situation?

The partial awareness or perception of the state of fragmentation of intelligence itself is the 'misery' and the anticipation of that state is the 'fear' in mankind. When there is total or undivided awareness, there can't be sorrow, because the awareness can't perceive its own 'divided or maimed part'.

This author's sympathies are for the state of mind of the poor, which is unable to face, overcome or end the situation. Isn't it absurd to sympathize with the situation?

Q 16:  Can present generation return to Natural State of Intelligence? If not, how can this finding help mankind?

This finding or any other preaching may not help anyone to transform or return to Natural State of Intelligence. However, since this is a scientific finding, it can help all parents or elders in protecting or retaining the Natural or the near Natural State of Intelligence in the coming generations. This page merely teaches (not preaches) a way to avoid the error in upbringing, which is taking place all over the world, unknowingly and involuntarily or emotionally.

Q 17:  Is there a simple formula, which can help parents to ensure Natural State of Intelligence in the coming generations?

To enable parents and elders to ensure peace and prosperity to their children an easy, simple, proven, scientific, implementable, non-invasive, harmless, inexpensive and natural formula has been devised. Further more, no other invasion or intervention in the present itinerary of children, is called for. Children brought up like this, won't be spoilt even if the education or environment worsens later, throughout life.

“At least until 2 ½ years of age, don’t pamper children,

when they are hurt and are crying, but treat them medically”

(Pampering isn't harmful, if done after the child returns to normal or playful state)

Q 18:  How does the implementation benefit the parents later? What happens if the formula isn't fully complied with?

Mere implementation of the formula can ensure and enable the children to be stable minded, rational, reasonable, happy and prosperous throughout life and also enables them to give loving care to their aged parents later. Children, raised like this, could also change the world in to a better place to live for the future generations, through scientific means. These findings may also be useful for researchers and others, who are serious and concerned about human problems. A few unintentional lapses in compliance occurring during that period needn't cause unnecessary concern, as long as the 'amount of fragmentation doesn't exceed 49% of the total. It is only to ensure that the operating intelligence remains dominant or at 51% or more, which will be stronger than its fragmented part.

Q 19: What is Science and why it hasn’t been able to solve human problems so far?

It is the human intelligence, which has to solve its own problems. Science is only the collected facts of nature, discovered or perceived by human intelligence, and also that are provable, replicable, logical, reasonable, lasting, undeniable and universally applicable. Science hasn't been able to show solutions to human problems, only because human intelligence hasn’t so far unraveled  the basic functioning of the human mind, where only the problems are either perceived or created. Despite many useful discoveries in all branches of science including Psychology, Psychiatry and Neurology, the discovery of basic functioning of the human mind has remained elusive. Without first confirming the existence and the loss of the natural state of mind, mankind can’t aspire to ensure it for the coming generations. Science  has been helping mankind to largely prevent or reduce problems through forecasts and other procedures in all the three categories cited in answer to Q:3 above.

Q 20:  Can Science, Religion and Philosophy ever meet?

Roughly, it is like asking whether facts and fiction can ever meet. Science is a collection of facts of nature. Religion is a collection of some literature, rituals and rules for human behavior set by its founders and their followers. Philosophy is an endless jugglery of words, by those intellectuals, who happened to be comparatively freer than others. Since majority of the human population are prone to fear due to fragmentation of intelligence, Religion has a tendency to bind them by giving hopes of liberation from fear or sorrow. Most philosophies give intellectual entertainment and generally don't bind people unless the reader depends on them to escape from his misery or boredom, by repeatedly reading or indulging in them.

Q 21: What is the cause of the present confusion and what are the responsibilities of a true scientist?

Two reasons can be attributed for the present confusion of mankind in the world. Firstly, it is due to inadequate  and inaccurate knowledge about the functioning of human mind, which in turn is due to inadequate perception. Secondly, the fear or disinclination in children to ask questions. At this juncture, the responsibilities of a true scientist are, viz., 1) to understand the priority of finding out the functioning of the human mind 'logically and intellectually', 2) to ensure that maximum number of children in the coming generation are raised, at least in the Intelligence Dominant State. 3) finally to also ensure that such material are made available to such children.

Q 22:  Will JK's teachings become redundant, after this new finding?

Not-at-all. JK's teachings are more or less the descriptions of perceptions and responses of the natural state of intelligence, whereas these findings reveal the reason for loss of that ability to perceive and respond like that of JK. JK's teachings are like the flour (output) of a good flourmill and these findings are like the anatomy (study of construction) of that flourmill. By merely studying JK, one may never get transformed, however, JK's expressions are highly useful to understand that ideal state. In other words, if the principle of operation of human intelligence is understood, then it may help in protecting the natural state in the coming generations and even to improve its output, which is the blend of freedom and knowledge. Another example can be like this. The principles and functioning of a computer perhaps can never be understood by studying its printouts, however  impressive, fine and clear they may be.

Q 23: Shouldn’t the credit of this discovery go to him, who found it first?
The question of credit is of no consequence in the natural or non-competitive state. Any one who finds the truth is eager only to share with others and not to get an honor for wielding his authority over others. True yardstick to measure the quality or efficacy of a discovery is the absence of the organization promising happiness and prosperity through time or preaching. When ‘I’ or the intelligence is in the natural state or even in the dominant state over emotions, it doesn’t aspire for pleasures like accumulation, name or fame in this world or even for a place in the ‘next’ world. The Intelligence or ‘I’ lives a life of joy, comfort, sumptuousness and contentment with neither accumulation nor renunciation. ‘I’ or the intelligence also quietly ends (or dies) by choice or when the functioning of the body ceases or comes to an end. ‘I’ or the intelligence doesn’t even feel sorry that it had any unfulfilled tasks at the time of death, though it would be aware of this fact.

Q 24:  What is the major difference between your finding and that of others?

The difference claimed between this finding and that of others is in the efficacy, fruitfulness and realisation of objectives. Though every preacher’s objective is to usher natural behaviour in human beings, they all inevitably fail as they merely preach good behaviour to unnatural or distorted minds, without doing anything scientific or fundamental to protect and retain the good or naturalmind, which normally exists at birth. If harmful behaviour was only due to lack of knowledge of good behaviour, then the first teacher would also have been the last one. It is because, the first teacher himself would have definitely succeeded in his mission, and thus averting the rise of all other spiritual teachers of the world.

Q 25: Should children aim for recognition through wealth or renunciation? What else they can aim at?

Neither. Aiming for recognition is effortful and unnatural. If one performs naturally in life it would be effortless and joyful that recognition doesn't make any difference at all. These efforts are only leading to conflicts. Seeking and renouncing wealth both are extreme and endless, as the desire for recognition or success is an emotional and a psychological requirement, necessitated or motivated from the illusions of insecurity. However to aim, expect, earn, achieve, or demand physical perks like food, clothing, house, car, medical attention and a family life is only natural, as long as they aren’t acquired for the purpose of pleasure, respect or recognition.

Q 26 Isn't the world improving? How can we say that all are contributing for the chaos of the world?

How can we think that we are going to heaven, when we are traveling in the bus heading towards the hell?  In the prevalent psychological state, the human psyche is unavoidably doing that, because its perceptions and consequently the responses are haphazard and leading to chain reactions. In the prevalent psychological state of mankind, most of the activities of all or most of the people are resulting in deterioration of the world situation. No one can be blamed for it, as all are involuntarily and unknowingly contributing to chaos.

Q 27: Isn't producing human babies in laboratories, a deplorable act?

Indulgences in such experiments are only due to the natural urge of mankind to become free from the ‘illusions of instability or insecurity’, caused by the fragmentation of intelligence. Such experiments would succeed as long as the basic principles of nature are complied with. Only emotion dominant persons are shocked or surprised at such experiments. However, irrespective of where they take birth, the only problem of mankind would continue to be the ‘misery’ caused by fragmentation of intelligence, unless of course the error in upbringing is avoided.

Q 28: Knowledge or freedom, which one can bring fulfillment to human life?

Man is constantly in search of that knowledge which can make him free from his sorrow, restlessness or fragmentation. Hence, that knowledge is vital, which can actually set mankind free, easily, quickly and effectively and not that which merely promises freedom. Knowledge is the outcome of perception of intelligence. Because of distorted perception, the quality of knowledge has also remained poor in several fields, particularly in this most important subject of Psychology, resulting in the present chaos in the world.

This poor quality of knowledge has in turn resulted in poor quality of education, which has also contributed in raising middlemen or power brokers, who become like cogs in the wheels and helplessly and involuntarily promote the chaos in the whole world.

Neither freedom alone nor knowledge alone nor even a mere blend of freedom and knowledge can be said to bring fulfillment to human life. The perception or realizations that both freedom and knowledge are endless and immeasurable is also essential for the fulfillment of human life. That realizations alone can ensure everyone neither to be subservient, nor an authority over other human beings.

Q 29: What is ‘meditation’ and how often can one practice meditation?

Human intelligence can be said to be in the state of meditation, when it is the ‘state of rest from intellectual (knowledge related) activities’. During meditation, there is only ‘here and now’, and not ‘then or there'. There is natural and complete perception of the present time and space in that state. Meditation can’t be practiced, because there is no 'practicer'. Factually, when the practice of ‘thinking’ stops, what remains is the state of meditation. It is the natural, normal and an effortless faculty or ability of intelligence in the Intelligence Dominant State. Therefore one who can’t meditate, can’t fully and always perceive the truth. If thoughts can be compared to various intellectual activities in various speeds and directions as in different gears of a motor vehicle, then meditation can be compared to the neutral gear or idling state. It isn’t practical, necessary or fulfilling, to be always in the state of meditation, though it may be possible. Intellectual activities are essential for human interactions, without which there is no social life, which is the greatest gift available only for mankind. What is important is to note that intellectual activities are essential, but they must be voluntary and not motivated as largely going on now.

Q 30: How do we perceive time and space?  Can they be measured and controlled?

We perceive time and space within our limitations. Human perception is natural and total only during meditation, when internal or psychological time stands ‘still’ and space is ‘limited’ to that of sensory perception only. There is only ‘ here and now’, but not ‘then and there’. Similarly the space is limited to the present and visible extent. Therefore during meditation, time and space are only perceivable, but not measurable or comparable. The attempt of thought to measure ‘perception’ can be crudely compared to that of a ray of sunlight trying to measure the capacity of the Sun.

Any attempt to measure or compare the external situation involves the use of memory or knowledge, resulting in an intellectual activity. Besides, as long as they are voluntary, these exercises may be useful and harmless. However, due to fragmentation of intelligence, human operating intelligence is involuntarily and endlessly engaged in measurement and comparison of time and space, resulting in voluminous, endless and often futile data. Knowledge is the result of perception and by mere classification and analysis of knowledge, mankind may never understand the distortions in perception, which alone is the root cause of all problems of mankind. Undoubtedly better or improved knowledge is constantly replacing the old ones in this world. However, the speed, accuracy and adequacy have been abysmally low in new findings, particularly in the science of the ‘mind’. Knowledge is the result of perception and hence the level or quality of knowledge depends on the quality of perception itself. It is already said that the quality of perception depends upon the level of fragmentation of intelligence However, there is no limit for the quantity of knowledge.

Q 31: What is the motivation for a new discovery?

Motivation breeds inventions, which are only applications of existing knowledge. An invention can be a predetermined goal or objective. Discoveries are the outcomes of existing properties or principles of nature and are the results of natural, total or undistorted observation only. Motivation or any intellectual activity has to stop, for a discovery to begin by the intelligence in any brain.

Q 32:  What makes one to discover the causes and offer solutions for the problems of mankind?

It is the nature of the operating intelligence, to discover (perceive) as well as respond to the world situation, with its discovery. If the operating intelligence is more than 50% of the total intelligence, it is not under the influence of the distorted part and hence is able to discover the problem and its cause.

Q 33:  What makes one's behaviour impulsive?

When the operating intelligence is less than 50% of the total, it is evident that the fragmented part is distorting the perception and consequently the response of the operating intelligence becomes impulsive due to perception of the illusion of insecurity as real insecurity.

Q 34:  Who may or may not be interested in this project?

Those, who feel that they are comfortable in the present scenario or system, may not feel the necessity for a change in the way the mankind is presently moving.  Being uncomfortable, those who aspire to become comfortable by competition sooner or later in the same system, also may not find the necessity for a change. Those who believe that all their problems are only due to Other people, Other religions, Other countries, Other parties and Other ideologies, may not find this discovery worth examining. Finally those, who feel that reforms in contents and methods in education  can bring a change in people of a country or the world, also may not find this discovery useful to help bring a lasting or a concrete change in mankind.

Authorities or organizations generally believe that 'disorder and unrest in society' is voluntary and can be eliminated by force, persuasion or  education. That is why they haven't been able to bring order in the world, however hard they try. Presently majority of mankind isn't in a position to understand this point, perhaps due to their emotion dominant states of operating intelligence. However, there may still be a small percentage of people who may have the ability to understand this. It is mainly towards this segment of society, this write up is being humbly submitted.

Then only children would understand the importance of learning about the functioning of the human mind not merely logically or intellectually, but actually. Only such children would show Philosophy and Religion, their due places. For instance, perhaps no school or college in India seems to offer any lesson about Jiddu Krishnamurti, the Indian born Philosopher.

Only those, who are intelligence dominant or substantially psychologically stable and who are sensitive to the sufferings of mankind, irrespective of whether they are rich or poor, may like to help bring a concrete change, through scientific strategies in the lives of mankind. However, if the strategy isn’t scientific, they too would fail like all the numerous religious, political and other intellectual teachers the world has seen so far.
