In all HIV infected individuals and AIDS sufferers who do not have overt neural HIV disease, the following Siddah drugs are very effective.

They are used in combination with Opportunistic Infection (OI) Controlling drugs.

    3. Nellikkai Lehyam

The main ingredients in each drug formulations are

Rasagandhi Mezhugu

Amukkara Chooranam

The three formulations are made according to the "The Siddah formulary of India", I edition, published by the Govt of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 1988.

All the three formulations are safe. There are no side effects noticed in over 35,000 patients who have received these drugs since 1992 at our Hospital.

These drugs are able to reduce viral load, increase CD8 and CD4 cells besides symptoms control and increase in body weight.

The process of preparation of Hg and S make them completely non-toxic to the human being.

Are these Siddah drugs capable of curing AIDS ?

As of now; no; they are not capable of a cure. prolonged viral suppression has been achieved in a a few patients.

Intermittent therapy (similar to the so called structured interruption of treatment) is yet to be tried.

Siddah drugs alone without OI drugs have not been tried in our patients.

What needs to be done now ?

A head-to-head comparison of the Siddah drugs with HAART drugs will be required for comparing efficacy and long term safety.

We have combined HAART with Siddah drugs - there are no side effects and drug-drug interactions.

More Siddah drugs require to be test against

      • Advanced HIV
      • Severe wasting form of HIV
      • Encephalopathic form of HIV.
