NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY Ministry of Textiles, Government of India promoted a Registered Society in the year 1986 as National Institute of Fashion Technology, popularly known as NIFT. NIFT has now emerged as a premier training Institute in India to train professionals to meet the Human Resource Development requirements of the apparel industry. It is a college of Design, Technology and Management. It offers various full time diploma programs and provides professional education. The fashion trade is mercurial in nature and requires creativity and flare for art together with sound technology so vital to mass manufacturing of apparel. The role of NIFT is to function as Apex Body in training of professionals. It also renders assistance to the apparel industry as well as to all educational institutes offering courses in fashion designing and garment industry. The Board of Governors of NIFT are deeply involved in the growth and development of the Institute. The Academic Council of the Institute provides, advice and support in all academic and administrative matters. The Council assists the institute in initiating and evaluating all curricula, setting up research programmes, raising funds for the students’ scholarships, faculty development and placements of students, assisting the organisation in special events, organising field trips and giving lectures. The overall direction provided by the BOG of NIFT helps in developing a value-system so as to build informal organisational culture to sustain higher levels of education. The day to day administration of the Institute has been entrusted to the Executive Director. ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES The Programmes offered by N1FT are administered by the Academic Standards Committee. The Committee consists of Executive Director, Director. and Chairpersons of the department concerned. The Committee meets regularly to co-ordinate each of the component of the programme i.e. field work, management internship, rules of admission, craft documentation and placement. All matters pertaining to the academic programmes are decided by the Academic Standards Committee. Evaluation of students performance in the various programmes offered at NIFT is a continuous process, affording opportunity for frequent and regular feedback. In all the segments of programmes offered - case study, field work and industry training, are of pivotal importance. The students are expected to meet the standards of performance prescribed by the Academic Standards Committee for each programme being offered by the Institute by the Academic Standards Committee for each programme being offered by the Institute. NIFT also collaborates with leading educational institutions. The collaboration of NIFT with National Institute of Design - Ahmedabad, Indian Institute of Leather Products - Madras, Central Leather Research Institute - Madras, Jute Manufacturers Development Corporation - Calcutta, Clothing Manufacturers Association of India - Mumbai and Tirupur Exporters Association - Tirupur are mutually beneficial to each other. NIFT has in the past implemented training programmes and participated in exhibitions, fashion shows in collaboration with other educational institutes. | IMPORTANT NOTE
Candidates appearing for their qualifying examinations can also apply. Their admission, however, will be provisional and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility by 30th June, 2008. Proof of the candidates having successfully passed the qualifying examination will have to be produced at the time of joining the programme. In case, candidates do not produce the required documents by 30th June, 2008, their admission will be cancelled and 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded. Non fulfilment of the above conditions will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission. |

Demand Draft: You will need to provide certain details from the DD at the time of online submission of application form. You must have the Demand Draft ready before filling up the application form If You belong to General/OBC Category, you are required to obtain a Demand Draft for Rs.1250/- drawn in favour of 'National Institute of Fashion Technology' payable at New Delhi, before submission of the Application.
If You belong to
SC / ST or a Person with Disabilities, you are required to obtain a
Demand Draft for Rs.750/- drawn in favour of 'National Institute of
Fashion Technology' payable at New Delhi,
before submission of the Application.
If You
are applying under Foreign Nationals/SAARC/NRI category, you are
required to obtain a Demand Draft for US $70/- drawn in favour of
'National Institute of Fashion Technology' payable at New Delhi,

Application can be submitted by a candidate only once and against only one of the Programmes which means candidate has only ONE choice of selection of ONE of the Programmes offered on this website. Hence, you are advised to apply for the programme, most suiting to your Qualification.

Fill the NIFT Application Form Online: Since your eligibility will be screened based on the information furnished by you, you are required to exercise sufficient care to correctly furnish the details of your Qualification, etc. |

After filling the form correctly, submit the same by clicking the button “SUBMIT” where by the data filled by you will be captured.

On successful submission of online application form, a unique auto generated Application Form Number will be allotted which will appear on print version of the application form. |

Please save the print version of application form using “SAVE AS” function and after that you should take the print out.

You must keep an additional print out of the application form for all future references. |

After taking the print out, affix your passport size photograph in the space provided and attach the demand draft of requisite amount with the print version of application. |

PROCESS 3: ADMIT CARDS |
|
|
On the basis of information given in the NIFT Application Form, Admit Card of provisionally eligible candidates will be dispatched to the address mentioned in the Application Form. The provisionally eligible candidates will receive their admit cards by the end of January 2008. In case of non-receipt of Admit Cards by end January 2008, the candidates can download the Admit Card from the NIFT website http://www.niftindia.com on or after 31st January 2008. On such downloaded admit cards, the candidates are required to affix their photograph (similar to that affixed on the Application Form) on the downloaded Admit Card and get it attested by a Gazzetted Officer / School or College Principal for producing at the Examination Centre. Candidate without the admit card or without the photograph on the downloaded admit card will NOT be permitted to appear in the written entrance examination. |
